Tikiyaki Orchestra makes music and tiki mugs at Hukilau 2008
Southern California’s Tikiyaki Orchestra makes modern lounge music in a very likeable “Martin Denny meets spy music” style. The group will be appearing twice at this year’s Hukilau event in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida: at the Friday night main event, then again at the Mai Kai in during the first happy hour. They also has a new 12-track album out, “Stereoexotique,” available from the band’s website.
The group’s drummer and percussionist, Squid, is also behind many of Tiki Farm’s mug designs and sculpts, so as a treat for fans he’s created a tiki mug exclusively for Hukilau attendees in a limited edition of 120. They’re available for pre-sale now at the band’s MySpace page, to be delivered in person at Hulikau, and priced at $30 each.
