Review: clinQs reusable drink stickers are great lowbrow wine charms

Little known fact: some of the best tropical drinks weren’t actually designated to be served in tiki mugs (gasp). Donn the Beachcomber’s Zombie, for example, is meant to be served in a Collins glass. It’s easy to remember whose drink is whose when each person has a distinctive ceramic mug, but things get murky when glass or plastic-ware is introduced. For wine drinkers, the ubiquitous “wine charm” solves the problem, but traditionally there’s been no solution for stemless vessels. Until now…
clinQs are reusable static cling stickers (anyone remember Colorforms?) printed with unique colorful designs that stick to glass, plastic cups, or metal cans. Each guest gets a clinQ and the drink identity crisis is solved! clinQs don’t use adhesive, so they can be repositioned, reassigned, washed, and returned to the plastic backing sheet that they came on for use again and again.
The company offers a variety of designs: for tiki fans, the “TROPICALIA” set fits the bill nicely, with 16 unique images of tikis, palm trees, pineapples, and exotic flowers.
The company was nice enough to send me a sheet to try out, so I stressed-tested them in the Florida sun. After 8 hours of heat and condensation, the clinQ was still stuck on the glass!
clinQs are an elegant, simple, and inexpensive solution to a problem, which is product design at it’s best.
