Maori tiki pendantThe Maori people of New Zealand are well known for their intricate tattoo work and wooden carvings, but I had no idea that they produced small pieces of jewelry as well.

Archaeologist Gary Law runs a website with a nice guide to the jade tiki pendants carved on the island since sometime before the 19th century.
