Last minute gift ideas: the two best bar books, Beachbum Berry’s Grog Log and Intoxica

For the amateur mixologist on your list, I can’t recommend a better set of books for making not only historically-accurate but highly delicious tiki drinks.

Jeff “Beachbum” Berry tracked down bartenders and recipes from the mixmasters at famous tiki establishments (many of which are now closed) to get the real deal — not the syrupy-sweet concoctions you find in most books. There’s also a handy and informative guide for finding the best liquors and mixes to get the best tasting drinks possible.

I’ve been making drinks out of these books at parties for the past couple of years and have gotten nothing but rave reviews.
