The Los Angeles Times’ travel blog has a nice walk-through of the new Mystic Manor attraction being built at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Scheduled to open sometime before 2013, Mystic Manor is the park’s version of the Haunted Mansion. Rather than copying either of the U.S. version’s of the mansion or France’s Phantom Manor, Hong Kong’s attraction will be a mash-up of the Indiana Jones Adventure and the Haunted Mansion, with nods to The Enchanted Tiki Room, The Adventure’s Club, and early concepts for The Museum of the Weird, Rolly Crump’s pre-show/restaurant concept intended for Disneyland but never built.
Tiki fans will find “The Tribal Room” particularly interesting, which is described thusly:
A two-story-tall tiki statue spews lava from its mouth as flames warm the room. Tribal gods blow darts at the riders, nailing Albert to the wall.
