Artist Eric Tan creates tiki Stitch for D23 convention

Eric Tan tiki Stitch

For some reason, I’m in a Disney mood this week. Perhaps it was the pleasant bombardment of Disney/Pixar movies over the holiday weekend here in the U.S. in combination with the sad news of Roy Disney’s passing.

Regardless of motivation, while traversing the internet this weekend I discovered the work of artist Eric Tam. In his blog, Eric details the creation of this super tikified version of Experiment 626, a.k.a. Stitch, from the Disney film of the same name. A variety of artists were given vinyl blanks of the character to start from and Eric really got into the island spirit. The final piece was displayed at Disney’s D23 convention

Update: It turns out that this figure is actually going to be available for sale in February 2010. The details are available at the Mindstyle website (sorry, direct link not available due to site structure).
